With unique wedding themes, colours and gowns the 2019 wedding season is going to be an exciting one! We collected some of our favourite current trends for you that you’re sure to want to add to your wedding plans.

  1. The first trend we’ve noticed coming out for 2019  is celestial decor themes. It adds a feel of magic to any wedding with its glittery star and moon decorations and deep blues and golds. This trend is sure to stick around and can help make any wedding even more romantic.

2. Next on our list are the beautiful and boho belle sleeve wedding gowns. Giving a throwback to the 70’s this 2019 trend has become popular again this year and will definitely be sticking around for 2019. We love the flowy romantic look it gives and you can find it in different styles that would suit any bride.

3. Geometric backdrops are the perfect mix between modern and rustic. Natural materials add a feel of warmth and cozy to any wedding and these geometic backdrops filled with flowers are simply stunning.

4. We’ve seen a lot of these this season already and we’re only at the end of May! Bridal kimonos/robes are a fast-spreading trend that we’re sure to see a lot of in 2019, especially for those getting married early Spring or Fall. These kimono add a classy yet bohemian touch similar to the belle sleeve trend and the combination of both trends makes for a very romantic look.

5. Neon signs are one of our top 3 trends for the season, they look fantastic and they add an unexpected design element to your wedding that you can keep for years to come! Check out these examples we found that add some flare to your special day!

5 Creative Ways to Add Lace to Your Wedding Decor

Lace is a fabric that just screams wedding. Traditionally, it is seen on the bride herself, from her gown to her garter and even her veil. But not all brides love a lace gown. Instead, try throwing in a bit of lace into your wedding decor for a delicate and elegant look.

If you are having an outdoor wedding, a lace wedding arbor would serve as the perfect place for you to say “I Do.”

Give your reception a chic yet rustic feel with burlap and lace chair sashes. The burlap will give it that outdoorsy, natural look, while the lace will give it a bit of tradition and delicacy.

If you are opting for rectangular tables for your reception, a lace table runner will be a beautiful addition. Wrap the ends with burlap, twine or flowers to finish the look off.

Spruce up your walk down the aisle with a runner that is adorned in lace. Rather than making the entire runner lace, go with something that simply has lace adornments to really make it stand out.

Lace lanterns are a gorgeous addition to any outdoor wedding (or the right indoor venue). The ones pictured above are actually pretty easy to make — a simple papier-mache project that involves that involves overlapping doilies on a balloon with a fabric stiffener. Find out how to make them here.

4 Romantic Aisle Decor Ideas

Your walk down the aisle is perhaps one of the most significant aspects of your wedding. It’s the moment just before you say “I do,” so of course you want that walk to be as memorable and romantic as possible. Spruce up your aisle, whether you are getting married in an outdoor or indoor venue, by adding some floral designs or perhaps a simple aisle runner. Below are four romantic aisle decor ideas.

Petal-Powered Patterns

Take the floral design of your wedding to the next level by using rose petals to create a patterned design for your aisle. You can choose any colour that goes with your theme, and use this decor idea in any venue of your choice. Just be sure to go with the right floral stylist, who will be able to provide you with high quality petals and a beautiful design.

Rustic Whimsy

If you are going with an outdoor rustic look for your wedding theme, this aisle is certainly add to the elegance. Mason jar floral arrangements sitting atop tree stumps keep the decor fairly casual and simple, but still keep a sense of elegance.

If you want to add decor that is more unique, opt for signs that reflect your relationship and personalities. The ones pictured above are all about love, but you can certainly turn these into a DIY project and personalize them with quotes about love and marriage, or simply with words that perfectly describe your relationship.

Traditional Runner

If you want to go a more traditional route when it comes to your aisle decor, opt for a fabric runner. Look out for quality fabrics that won’t tear, and look into the different patterns and designs that will fit in with your wedding theme. You will also want to ensure that your runner is the right length, so be sure to get the correct measurements from the venue.

This Couple’s Wedding is the Epitome of Geeky Chic

Saab Magakona and Jim Bacarro wanted their wedding to reflect all of their favourite things — books, comics and superheroes. And they did just that with adorable details that reflected their personalities while still remaining chic and elegant.

The save-the-dates featured cartoon versions on Jim an Saab as superheroes, and the invitations were in the form of old library check-out cards. Even the boutonnières were given a personalized touch.

“I made these myself from my old and beloved Archie comics,” Saab told The Huffington Post. “Some people are outraged about the fact I cut up some pages of comic books, but I grew up with these comics. I have so many, and I thought of it as recycling something that was dear to me. Something new out of something old.”

Since no geeky chic wedding is complete without a little Star Wars, the couple opted for a reception entrance full of lightsabers — a feature that almost didn’t make the final cut.

“Jim wanted to incorporate ‘Star Wars’ in the reception by doing a lightsaber entrance,” Saab said. “We were on the fence about it because it might be too much. But exactly a week before the wedding, we decided to go for it. I said if he wanted to do it, he should do it because it’s our wedding day and we could do whatever we wanted!”

For the reception, Saab wanted the decor to be book themed. She told her stylist about her idea, who created a wall of books by fastening the hard covers of old medical books (that had been damaged in a flood) to the wall. This served as the perfect backdrop.

Hipster Wedding Touches

Does the idea of a traditional, formal wedding make you cringe? Would you rather have a natural ceremony and a calm, artsy reception? You may need to take a queue from The Bridal Guide and add some hipster touches to your wedding.

An off-beat wedding gown. The first way to take some formality away from your wedding is definitely to ditch the pure-white-ball-gown idea of a wedding dress. This isn’t your mother’s wedding! Try something with an architectural design, a colour that isn’t white, or something that shows your hidden (tasteful) tattoos.

Mis-matched bridal parties. Mis-matching brides maids’ dresses can bring excitement to your wedding ceremony and reception. Your guests will be so impressed! Make sure that the dresses have some congruent themes like colour family or shade, relative length, similar shape, etc.

Mason Jars. Hipsters can put mason jars to use anywhere, just check Pinterest! If you want to add a vintage feel to your ceremony or reception, try using mason jars for decorative or functional purposes. Think: flower pots or cocktail mugs.

Outstanding graphic design. If you want to make your wedding look more modern, hire a great graphic designer. With all the possibilities of graphic design, you can make your decoration truly unique. Have the designer design invitations, place cards, signs for dessert tables, menu for the bar, etc.

Organic, vegan, or gluten-free food. Though it may cost more money, serving organic, vegan, or gluten-free food at your wedding will make it a progressive celebration! You can accommodate everyone’s nutritional requirements and feel good about it.

An uncanny setting. If getting married in a church isn’t your ideal, break out your creative side, and come up with an uncanny venue or setting. How about an old barn or a contemporary studio?

Instagram and Twitter live feeds. Create an Instagram or Twitter hashtag for your wedding day and night, then have your graphic designer make signs instructing guests to upload photos of the wedding as it unfolds using your hashtag. That way, you and the guests can revisit the “real time” wedding after the matter.

Whether you want a full-blown hipster wedding or just a touch of something new and non-traditional, adding some of our hipster touches will make your wedding feel unique and progressive.
