Dearly Beloved, we are here today to celebrate that which fire could not stop

For a young couple from Fort McMurray, the wedding continued, just not quite as planned.

Edward and Beverly Stroesser lost the church, the decorations, the tuxedos and the bridesmaid’s dresses in Alberta’s wildfires. In the weeks following the evacuation, volunteers put together a new wedding for the couple.

Family and friends gathered inside a St. Albert, Alta., chapel this past Saturday to witness a ceremony the couple said was more than what they could have originally imagined.
