Our Story

Mark and Amanda met unexpectedly at Oktoberfest in Kitchener in 2013. Amanda, originally from Randolph, New York, was visiting some friends that she had met while volunteering in an archaeological excavation in Greece the weekend she met Mark. Though they wouldn’t call it love at first sight, conversation was easy for this couple, which led to a beautiful relationship. 

Over the next few months, Mark and Amanda took many two hour road trips across the border (to/from Buffalo and Kitchener) to visit one another and introduce each other to their families and friends all while balancing work and school. 
Though not always easy, this couple would definitely say the time and distances travelled to visit each other were always worth it. As their love grew stronger, they decided to move in together. This required diligence and perseverance as Amanda transferred her nursing license, applied for a work permit and later permanent residency within Canada in order to be together long term.
In November of 2018, Mark proposed to Amanda in their home. On August 17, 2019, the couple said “I do” in front of their loved ones in the beautiful town of Ellicottville, NY – only 20 minutes from the town Amanda grew up in.  
The couple lives together in Kitchener, Ontario, where Mark was born and raised, and the city they originally met in. Mark and Amanda love to travel. So far, they have been to eight countries together, yet they long for many more adventures together as husband and wife.
