Is it wrong that we think sometimes the best part of a wedding is the food? After all, food is a staple that has been connecting families and communities for thousands of years, especially at monumental events. Choosing your wedding menu can be a crucial part of your big day, and for good reason. With that in mind, here are some food and catering trends we see being big in 2019.

Sharing platters

Formal plated dinners have their place, but sharing platters, which have a more communal, family-oriented feel, are increasing in popularity. Asian and Latin American cuisines tend to lend themselves especially well to this trend, but we have also seen fun things like taco platters or charcuterie boards.

Fusion cuisine

Echoing the restaurant industry, fusion dishes are gaining popularity in the wedding sphere as well. A fusion dish pares two regional or cultural cuisines together, for a unique twist on a traditional dish. People are finally realizing that it’s completely fine to pair pasta with a Spanish-inspired meat dish, or to combine Asian dishes from completely different countries. After all, you and your fiancée are unique, shouldn’t your wedding cuisine be?

 Food Trucks

For more casual or quirky weddings, some couples are choosing to do away with traditional sit-down dinners altogether! Food trucks are all the rage these days and couples planning their wedding are starting to want in on the fun. After all, they’re unique, interactive and give your guests a choice of options. With food trucks serving everything from artisanal donuts to sushi burritos, there’s something for everyone, regardless of your wedding style.
