Accessory and Venue Ideas for an Eco-Friendly Wedding

In an increasingly eco-conscious world, many people are opting to go a little more green in their daily lives. Recycling plastics and paper, using less aerosols, and driving a little less are just a few of the ways they’ve tried to protect the environment. If you’re of the same mindset, there are ways you can make your wedding eco-friendly too! By being just a little more resourceful and asking around, you can reduce the size of your ecological footprint without reducing the beauty of your special day. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Recycled Metal and Gem Jewelry

When buying a piece of jewelry for your wedding day, jewelers will often use new and unrefined materials to craft you something special. While there’s nothing wrong with wanting something new, why not get in on the recycling spirit and buy something that’s been made with recycled or repurposed materials? Reused metal from serving platters, gems from old pieces of jewelry… anything works!

Antique and Repurposed Décor

Instead of buying brand new and shiny centerpieces, why not take part in some antiquing? Whether they’re hand-me-downs from relatives or pieces found at a backyard sale, they’re sure to be easy on the environment and (depending on what you can find) give your venue that added vintage charm. Don’t worry too much about finding more than one of the same thing – try matching centerpieces through theme rather than using identical items.

Go vintage! Visit some vintage bridal shops or ask relatives if they’d be willing to part with old accessories. Not only will it be less out of your pocket, but borrowing something beautiful from someone you love can be a great way to keep them involved and part of the ceremony. Not to mention, it’s a great way to keep the environment just a little greener!
