Kristina and Jason

Kristina and Jason are a love story of new age. They didn’t meet at school, or through friends or some other “regular” avenue. They met off of E-Harmony. In a time where internet dating in now the “norm”, these two found their exact match. Both having a love for craft beers and music concerts they quickly hit it off.

3 years later Jason finally popped the question at home just the two of them and of course their cats. Wedding planning quickly started thereafter. Kristina had many connections and a huge attention to detail.

Of course their fist thought was to marry or have their reception In one of Toronto’s many breweries, and after checking some out they fell in love with Old Flame Brewery. Old Flame Brewery is housed in the former Ontario Carriage Works. Built in 1884, this landmark is 130 years old and was revived back to the old building to mirror its grand former self. Stunning old beams, beautiful brick, gave this brewery the cosy rustic feeling Kristina and Jason wanted. As all the details pulled together perfectly all that was left was for the weather to hold out.

Their wedding day was not a typical fall day, it was very windy and periods of rain. Still they decided to push through and go ahead with exchanging their vows in Palmer Park under the Gazebo. As the harpist Liane James, played her heavenly music, Kristina seemed to float down the aisle. Her smile was contagious and the first look from Jason I know his heart skipped a beat..or two. Michelle Scrimgeour-Brown, from Transcendent Ceremonies, was the officiant. Michelle has a way to help couples really put a ceremony together that represents them. She loves the outside the box touches that resonate with a couple. Talking with Kristnia and Jason she learned of their love for craft beer, and together came up with a special unity of beers to mark their marriage.

After the ceremony due to the weather it was decided to take bridal party photos inside the Brewery. Being the photographer and expecting to be outside, I really had to think on my feet. Kristina and Jason put their trust in me 100% and much like me, LOVED the way the photos turned out.

The reception was fairly low key, a super funny entrance by the bride and groom, the most magical first dance I’ve ever witnessed and a champagne toast with all the guests. Finger foods were served by Marwan’s Global Bistro, Port Perry vs. a traditional sit down dinner. It was exactly their style, drink and mingle with the closets of family and friends. Their late night treat was Hollywood Cone, Oshawa, a truck pulled up outside the brewery and you could have anything from the menu!
The party was amazing, Durham Wedding DJ’s played music that kept even grandma dancing all night long.

Kristina and Jason’s wedding was by far one of the most relaxed and fun weddings I had the privilege to capture this year! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we all do. Also check out the video to put you right in the day!
