Warren Hudson and Leanne Taylor like to live life on the edge. So much so, that Hudson proposed to his girlfriend of 11 years while participating in CN Tower’s Edge Walk, which had then suspended 1,750 feet above ground.

Hudson’s harness stopped him from fully getting down on one knee, and the wind speed meant he had to shout his proposal. He even used a fake ring, just in case the wind and the height caused the real thing to fly out over Toronto.

“It felt absolutely fantastic. Being on top of the CN Tower … gives you a sense of being on top of the world, so that kind of signifies the feeling of proposing and her accepting,” Hudson, an elementary school teacher from England, told the Toronto Sun. “You’ve got a double buzz, really.”

The couple first met at a dance club in Leeds, where they both live. Taylor said she “was wondering when it was going to happen,” and that the proposal was totally unexpected.

This was the couple’s first visit to Toronto, and Hudson said it was the perfect place to propose.

“The CN Tower is absolutely perfect, because it’s got such beautiful views. Canadian people are fantastic, warm and welcoming. I wanted to make it really unique and memorable and what better way to do that than doing the Edge Walk?” he said. “It’s simply unforgettable.”

You can watch a video of the proposal here.
