How to Plan a Nautical Themed Wedding

Nautical weddings can be quite beautiful, with white-and-navy stripes, rope, and anchors. You can choose to go more subtle with just a colour scheme, or you can go all out and have your guests feeling as though they are getting ready to set sail on an adventure. Whatever your taste may be, these tips below will give you some food for thought.

It’s All About the Cake

If you’ve been following this blog, you already know how much I love a great themed wedding cake. This particular one is a simple three-tiered cake with gold knotting and navy striped detailing. The gold anchor on the front is both in tune with the theme and an elegant bauble. While the coral flowers topping the cake make for the perfect accent, a sailboat topper would also work quite nicely.

Sea Salt Wedding Favours

These adorable little favours are perfect for a nautical themed wedding, and they are a fun DIY project! Simply fill small glass jars with sea salt, add a label to the front, some twine to the top, and voila! An easy, inexpensive DIY favour your guests will love.

Anchored Garter

This adorable garter will be a nice little surprise for your husband-to-be on your wedding day. Navy blue lace is adorned with a simple white anchor, making this your perfect ‘something blue’.

Oar Guestbook

Instead of using a traditional guestbook, have guests sign a pair of oars that you can later display in your home. You can turn it into a collective art project by providing guests with markers in several colours, glitter and/or stickers. For my fellow sentimentals, the oars will give you a nice reminder of just how much love you have in your life.
