    Wedding Description

When you meet Kristen, who works for a Toronto law firm, and Dan, an engineer who travels to mines all over the world, it is immediately obvious their love is strong and genuine. They way they look at each other, their smiles: The engagement shoot, at a Hamilton waterfall, showed that this is a marriage that was meant to be. And when they decided to get married, a destination wedding quickly emerged as an obvious choice. Not only would Jamaica weather be better in April than Toronto weather, but with relatives flying in from all over Canada and beyond, it would be both fair and convenient. April is slightly off-season, so prices would be reasonable. Since Jamaica is easy to each from Toronto, from the west coast, and from Newfoundland, everyone would be able to get there. And everyone did. Over 50 people flew in. One additional benefit of a destination wedding is that everything is arranged by the resort as “one stop shopping”. This takes pressure off bride and bridegroom. A wedding is a joyous occasion, and fun: worrying about logistical details ruins too many wedding days for the couple. So Kristen and Dan allowed the resort, the* Riu Ocho Rios,* to handle all the logistics. The one exception is the photographer: Kristen and Dan decided to bring their own: Michael Willems, a destination specialist from the Toronto area. This way, they got continuous photographic coverage from Pearson airport departure until Pearson airport arrival a week later. They had a photographer they knew and trusted. They were able to meet before, and after, the wedding with a local photographer, rather than having to handle discussions on the phone between Toronto and Jamaica. And photographer and family got to know each other well during there week; this makes for better wedding photos, trash-the-dress photos, and more. Hotels sometimes object, or charge extra, but you must remember that in the end, the couple’s wishes are paramount. The utter joy of the couple speaks in these photos; photos which are now a permanent record of what really was the most beautiful week in the couple’s life.
