Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year for Your Wedding Party

By now, you’ve heard that Pantone’s Color Of the Year for 2015 is Marsala! The color is a rich, deep, burgundy red, similar to an oxblood, and named after the appropriate wine, Marsala. According to Pantone’s Color Institute Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, “Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.” Today, we’re looking at bringing marsala into your bridal party.

The Bridesmaids: Your bridesmaids will love this color for a number of reasons. First, it goes well with any hair color and any complexion. It won’t wash you out, make your tresses look dull, etc. Look to the photo above for proof! What’s more? Dresses in this color could easily be worn again. If you have a cut like the dresses above, it could be worn from work to drinks. How stylish!

The Groomsmen: If you’ve got a group of trendy groomsmen, this look is for you! You can easily pair marsala suiting with white, black, cognac, navy, and grey. Be sure to dress the groomsmen in skinny cut suits — traditional cuts will be too much marsala material. If the whole look is too much of the color for you, try marsala accessories instead. Think along the lines of ties, pocket squares, bow ties, socks, etc.

The Flowers: Speaking of accessories, you can use marsala colored florals to accent your bridal party’s looks. You can have your bridesmaids carry bouquets that are entirely marsala colored, or you can carry a bouquet like that and have them carry ones with a few marsala colored pieces. Men can wear marsala boutonnieres, which would pair well with certain color suits. Think grey, navy, and khaki, while avoiding black and white.
