Marry Me Premiering on ABC this Fall
This Fall, ABC is premiering a new series called Marry Me. It will premiere Tuesday October 14th 9/8c on NBC and continue to run every Tuesday. That is, if it doesn’t get cancelled. Last year, we saw a huge onslaught of comedies based on families (Trophy Wife, The Crazy Ones, Mom, The Neighbours, etc.) which mostly got cancelled.
The new rom-com series stars Casey Wilson of Happy Endings—which was also created by Marry Me’s creator—and Ken Marino of Eastbound & Down. The cast also includes John Gemberling of Broad City and Tim Meadows of Mean Girls. The plot is as follows:
Six years ago, Annie (Casey Wilson) and Jake (Ken Marino) bonded over their mutual love of nachos and they have been inseparable ever since. Now, after returning from a romantic two-week island vacation, Jake’s all set to pop the question. Before he can ask, though, Annie lets loose on Jake for his inability to commit. She was expecting him to “put a ring on it” in paradise and now Jake’s perfect proposal is ruined. The only thing we know for sure is these two are destined to be together, whether they can get it together or not.
The show’s tagline is “Together every crazy step of the way,” and the sneak peek certainly shows that. After ruining her boyfriend’s proposal, Annie proposes to Jake at work and gets him fired. The show will take you through the couple meeting, falling in love, proposing, talking babies, and more. No matter what stage of your relationship you’re in Marry Me has the potential to be seriously funny!
