Proposals, Proposals, Proposals!

‘Tis the season for couples to get engaged! The warm air, sunshine, and summer fever must have grooms-to-be all worked up and ready to pop the question. As is the new trend among engaged couples, many a proposal has been planned elaborately, filmed, and shared online waiting to go viral. Below, are three of the Internet’s recent viral proposals. Enjoy!

Above, James proposed to his then girlfriend, Nicole, with the sneaky help of Vegas magician Rob Anderson. The couple is German, and Nicole was visiting Sin City with girlfriends. James flew all the way from Germany and surprised her on the spot! In addition to being a creative proposal, what good PR for Anderson. To pop the question, he gushes, “We’ve been together now for a long time, and I love you so much. There’s only one thing I want to ask. Will you marry me?”

Here, Ryan wanted to propose to his boyfriend Clayton in his favourite place. The setting for this proposal is Powell’s Books in Portland, Oregon—the world’s largest independent bookstore. Along the way to the proposal spot, Clayton is lured through the bookstore, meeting his friends and family along the way. Eventually, he finds his then boyfriend Ryan. The Knot reports, “Ryan and Clayton’s engagement comes almost one month after Oregon’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex couples from marrying was struck down.”

Finally, a sweet proposal! The Cake Boss, Buddy Valastro lent his art to this couple’s engagement in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Cake Boss crafted a frog/prince cupcake in which the groom-to-be placed an engagement ring. In addition to being an exciting proposal, this too was good PR for the third party.

The Cake Boss told People magazine, “The bride is a huge fan of frogs, so her fiancé asked us to sculpt a frog prince that could hold the engagement ring in its mouth. She was taking a class [at the Cake Factory], and we set it up for them to meet in my office.”
